Yamaha R1 Floating Disc Design & Manufacturing

We designed and developed a custom floating disc solution for the Yamaha R1, focusing on precise fitment, structural performance, and component compatibility. The disc assembly was engineered to ensure correct alignment with the wheel hub and braking system while maintaining the required clearances and overall dimensional accuracy. The work involved reviewing the disc profile, mounting points, centre bore, and overall geometry to ensure proper integration with the Yamaha R1 application. Attention was given to the relationship between the floating disc components, including the mounting section and surrounding structural features, to support both function and durability. The final design was created to provide a balanced combination of performance, fitment accuracy, and manufacturability, making it suitable for a high-performance motorcycle braking application.
